The teachers below are affiliated with Devanadi either because they are part of our Yoga Teacher Training curriculums, are Workshop teachers, and/or are regular subs at our studio. We feel it's necessary that you know who we bring in, including their philosphy and education, so that you feel comfortable in our sacred space. Each teacher brings a unique aspect of the study of yoga to students. We ask that if your class is subbed by your non-regular teacher to remain open and non-attached... you just might learn something new! Beginner's mind = open mind = tranquil mind.

Yogiraj Charles' quest to understand the inward and outward sciences of humanity directed him to take a seven year sabbatical in 2001, focusing on his own leadership preparation. His deep study of human anatomy, the psyche, global history and the realms reached in meditation have readied him to direct others in conditioning their own collaborative leadership tactics. Yogiraj is a senior student of the master, Swami Rama, and lends his experience and authenticity to our studio and teacher training program.

"I want to be a yoga teacher when I grow up!"
First beginning her Yoga practice at home, then discovering the Yoga Center of Minneapolis in 2004, Ginny's studies have grown roots into not only Yoga, but leading into Essential Oils, Thai Yoga Bodywork (TYB) and Ayurveda. The birth of her daughter brought out this need to share her knowledge and a Teacher of Yoga was awakened (again).

Ginny attended the Yoga Center's 200-hour certification program in 2008, and is a current student in Devanadi's 500 hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training Program. She's now finishing certification in Thai Yoga Bodywork with Tanya. She's grateful for the opportunity to to travel to Thailand for advanced study in 2009 with masters Pichest and Homprang.

"I love that I will always be a student, learning to teach, adding my part to our Common Knowledge Collective."

spacer David Keil spacer spacer David Keil
David is the anatomy teacher for Devanadi Yoga 500 hour Yoga Teacher Training.

David Keil was introduced to yoga in 1989 by his Tai Chi Chuan teacher. Both the Tai Chi and Yoga practice at the ripe age of 17 began his research into his own mind-body connections. His search continued through massage therapy where he discovered many insights and affirmations of what he had been exploring and finding on his own through his practices. One of the most important elements was the specific understanding of the musculoskeletal system and how fascinating, beautiful, and amazing the body is on the scientific level and how that directly played into and off of his own understanding of the human body. He was given names and explanations for some of things he had been experiencing and feeling.

As an instructor of Kinesiology (the study of movement and musculoskelatal anatomy) at Miami's Educating Hands School of Massage, David had developed a fun, informal and informative style of teaching. By repeatedly teaching incoming students who had no prior understanding of anatomy, David was confronted with the problem of making such a complex and beautiful system accessible and understandable to the average person.

Yoga practitioners generally have a deep kinesthetic understanding of how their body moves and works. Now they can have a deeper understanding by exploring anatomy visually and verbally with David's workshops. David brings his unique style and ability to make things simple to the yoga world. Because of his passion and desire to share the human body with everyone, he delivers this complex and sometimes frustrating topic in a way that is very accessible and understandable to yoga practitioners.

David has a private practice where he uses bodywork techniques to relieve chronic pain. A Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Neuromuscular Therapist, David has taught seminars in Body Mechanics for Massage Therapists and has also worked with other local and national audiences. David's current personal yoga practice is Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Since 2002 he has had the honor of studying with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, in Mysore (he has traveled there every year since) as well as with John Scott, author of Ashtanga Yoga, with whom he also has the extreme honor of teaching. David is authorized to teach Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and his grandson R. Sharath. For more information on David's Ashtanga yoga schedule visit Yoganatomy.com.

spacer Ben Vincent spacer spacer Ben Vincent
Ben’s search for truth began long before being exposed to yoga, but yoga felt like coming home. His stud ies include various traditions of yoga, medita tion, mysticism, music, philosophy, conflict resolution and sustain able farming. He continues to study with Richard Freeman, Rod Stryker, William Prottengeier, and Aadil Palkhivala, and have also studied with the ma stro Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. Through these relationships, he has learned that the art of teaching is to inspire a love of the practice, for great teachers are always students.

Ben’s teaching is a reflection of his practice - integrating the breath and ener getic awareness of Ashtanga Vinyasa and pranayama, the bodily alignment of Iyengar yoga, and the mind ful ness and subtle aware ness of various meditative and philosophical traditions - to realize integral well-being. Self-inquiry through yoga, meditation and music as living arts, has deepened the experience of what it is to be human and divine. He seeks to embody these realities through the simple truths of love, compassion, and non-attachment.

To share the wis dom of yoga as a teacher, is both a blessing and great responsibility, as there is no greater service than the work of love. Namaste.

Ben leads retreats, work shops and inten sives locally and internationally.
