Workshops w/Gurucharan Singh Khalsa, PhD
1) FRI PM - The Three Treasures of the Self: Exploring the Stages of Meditation
Friday, May 11 | 6:30 - 8:00pm | $35 | REGISTER
The greatest wealth of every human being is the treasure that lies in the rich depth and power of our Self. When we open our heart we find a Self that is unique, priceless and a key to living a happy fulfilled life. As we develop and mature our relationship to our authentic Self we gain the three great treasures of the Self:
The Crystallized Self
The Expressive Self
The Transcendent Self
The Crystallized Self is our capacity to open our heart, be authentic, remove our internal splits and bring focus to our mind. The Expressive Self is our capacity to discern our true self in action, to live with integrity and character, and to create the life we find meaningful. The Transcendent Self is our capacity to be self-transforming, to master our intuition, to go beyond our self-limiting beliefs and embrace our greatest potential and spirit. Wisdom, personal effectiveness and spiritual scope are natural outcomes of these three dimensions of our Self.
Meditation is the key to accessing these treasures. It is both a contemporary skill and a traditional practice for Self-development. Mastery of the stages of meditation gives us a profound realization of our Self and skills to use our insights skillfully in our life.
This workshop energizes with kundalini yoga exercises and then guides us in the practice of deep meditations from one of the journeys. The exercises are of moderate intensity and suitable for beginners onward. It is appropriate for anyone who desires to learn to meditate or deepen an existing personal meditation practice. The workshop provides a thorough background and introduction to the techniques, how to use them and their effects. Gurucharan adds insight, humor and practical wisdom to guide you through every step.
2) SAT PM - Meditation to Open the Heart and Discover the Treasure of the Crystallized Self
Sunday, May 13 | 1:00 - 4:00pm | $55 | REGISTER
Opening our heart and recognizing our true Self is a central purpose of deep meditation. This gives us the Crystallized Self- a treasure both powerful and precious. The Crystallized Self is our capacity to keep our heart open, be authentic, remove our internal splits and bring focus and clarity to our mind.
This workshop leads you through an experience of a deep meditation, shares an overview of the stages of meditation, and gives a snapshot of the meditative journey to opening the heart and awakening a sense of true Self.
He commented on the Crystallized Self and his upcoming book on The 21 Stages of Meditation: "After decades of practice, research and teaching I found a simple truth. At the center of every experience and spiritual practice there is a human being. And at the center of the human being is a sense of Self. When we develop that sense of self, open our heart, fully engage in our life and connect with all that we are, we are happy, creative and become fulfilled. Meditation befriends our mind and makes our consciousness our guiding north star. Then life is filled with intelligence, intuition, kindness and the power to love. With a Crystallized Self we become delightfully effective, grateful and relaxed."
Dr. Gurucharan Khalsa provides a practical, powerful and personal experience. He brings to his workshops humor, insight and over 40 years of experience teaching, training students and teachers worldwide, and researching the applications of meditation. |
