Journey to India Retreat
February 1-12, 2018
The 2018 Journey will begin in Kerala (south India) with the Sacred Sap Retreat, a week of rejuvenation at the Somatheeram Ayurveda Resort. Gentle daily yoga and de-stressing Ayurvedic treatments will ground us and awaken our senses to the beauty of India and ourselves. This is our time to ground, connect with our inner self as well as with the group, heal, recover from jet lag, nourish our bodies and souls, and experience the vast, vibrant beauty that is south India. Expect lots of lush tropical jungle, imagery that evokes Kiplings “The Jungle Book”, rejuvenating Ayurvedic warm oil massages, bathing rescued elephants in an Indian jungle lake, Ganesh ceremony in a Shiva temple, and a boat tour through the mystical backwaters of Kerala. This is our opportunity to slow down and reconnect with our most sattvic nature.
The Sacred Sap Retreat
February 1-8, 2018
The first week of our journey, we call the Sacred Sap Retreat, is named after the warm, rejuvenating, Ayurvedic oils we will be massaged with daily in Kerala. The Journey to India Retreat as a whole is an equisit inner and outer journey through the layers of our being, from home, to India, to pure relaxation with daily yoga and massage, and finally peaking in our travels north to Varanasi and the Taj Mahal in the Post-Retreat Tour. The Sacred Sap Retreat in Kerala is designed to remove stress, jetlag, years of aging, connect one another, and open us to the beauty in and around us. The Sacred Sap Retreat also serves to prepare us for the transformative experiences of the Post-Retreat Tour.
Varanasi & Taj Mahal, North India
February 8-12, 2017
After seven days of de-stressing and rejuvenation at Somatheeram Ayurveda Resort in southern India, we’re ready to experience northern India and quite possibly the most transformative part of the journey. We will fly north for a three city, five-day post-retreat tour that awakens the heart and spirit.
We’ll start the tour with a visit to the holy Ganges River in the ancient city of Varanasi, better known as Kashi (the Luminous One) or the City of Light. Varanasi is a spiritual epicenter where devotees of Lord Shiva, both pilgrims and sadhus (holymen) gather and reflect on the transience of life, in plain view of the many cremation ghats on the banks of the Ganges. Pilgrims also travel to Varanasi to bathe at the world famous bathing ghats where it is believed that a dip in the Ganges will remove all sins/karmas for a life time.
