As a yoga instructor and bodyworker, I found myself tapped out. By making this committment to myself - I have brought back the passion in my own practice and deepened it at a level where it's made a difference in my life and my teaching. ~Kris Layman, 500 hour grad

I have loved attending the 500 hour teacher training at Devanadi, it has deepened my knowledge to make all of the puzzle pieces come together and I feel more confident that I can go out and teach what I have learned here. ~Thea Jensen, 500 hour grad

I know we as yoginis are not supposed to get excited about getting into amazing poses... but since having a back injury, I've been unable to participate in the 500 hr classes fully these past couple months. However I was able to get into Scorpion fully for the first time, and have no back pain today! All I hear are your super instructions going through my mind when I'm getting into tough stuff like that.... YOU ARE AN AMAZING TEACHER! Thank you thank you thank you. ~Anonymous

Contact Hour Details
The 500 Hour Devanadi Yoga Teacher Training & Intensive Program is actually a 300 hour program that gives you the requirements, along with your previous 200 hour teacher training, to apply as a 500 hour Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance. The total training is 340 hours, 270 hours are considered “contact” hours and 70 hours are considered “non-contact” hours. A contact hour is a classroom hour in the physical presence of a faculty member. Non-contact hours are reading and homework assignments. To receive a certificate of completion all contact and non-contact hours must be satisfactorily completed. Attendance is required at all contact hour trainings and written assignments provide proof of completed non-contact hour requirements.

The full Devanadi Yoga 500 Hour Training & Intensive (200 foundational + the 300 hour Advanced (aka 500hr program)) exceeds the Yoga Alliance 500hr program standards of 450 contact hours and 50 non-contact hours. Upon completion of both the 200 and 500 hour programs at Devanadi Yoga, students will have had a total of 453.5 hours of contact study and 112 non-contact hours of homework and self-study, and 10 hours of karma yoga for a total of 575.5 hours.

NOTE: Some 500 hour students may have their 200 hour training from another school - therefore the numbers above will be slightly different for them according to their previous program's curriculum. Because our program exceeds the hours needed, students should not have any trouble meeting the houly requirements needed by Yoga Alliance. The director will help each student with their application upon completion of the program. We suggest getting the Yoga Alliance hour breakdown from your previous 200 hour school at some time during this program to facilitate the process.
